Amid the celebrations from the Coupe de France final win on Friday, many Paris Saint-Germain players were still fixated on Kylian Mbappe’s injury. The Frenchman left the final in the first half after suffering an unfortunate ankle injury. AS Saint-Etienne defender and team captain Loic Perrin attempted an unnecessary sliding tackle challenge that left Mbappe rolling in pain and subsequently forced him to leave the final early.
PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe and the rest of the squad wish the very best for Mbappe in his road to recovery. The French defender (via RMC Sport) spoke about the resounding feeling toward Mbappe’s injury.
“We are all very sorry and very embarrassed for him,” Kimpembe said. “We know that Kylian is a young player who likes to play. It pains us for him.”
He continued by relaying his hope that Mbappe can come back very soon as the team needs him for the team’s upcoming key fixtures.
“But football, it’s still a contact sport,” Kimpembe said. “Injuries, it’s something that happens. We are used to that. And we are prepared for that. We wish him to come back very quickly among us in the group because we will also need him.”
Mbappe will miss the upcoming Coupe de la Ligue final against Olympique Lyonnais. However, he could still feature in the UEFA Champions League bout against Atalanta.
