‘We Have To Go Without Fear’ — Atalanta Defender On The Team’s Mentality For Champions League Tie Against PSG

Atalanta continued its preparations for the UEFA Champions League knockout stage duel against Paris Saint-Germain with a 1-0 league win over Bologna. The victory moved Atalanta to second place in the Serie A standings, although Inter Milan has a game in hand.

Following the win, Atalanta defender Timothy Castagne spoke to Sky Sport Italia (via TuttoMercatoWeb) about the result and how a performance like this one can help his side remain focused for its clash with PSG.

“A great deal,” Castagne said. “Even today, so much intensity from Bologna. It helps us a lot, but we need a little bit of everything.”

The full-back also went on to provide a bit of insight into Atalanta’s mentality for its quarterfinal tie against the reigning Ligue 1 champions. As many of his teammates have echoed, Castagne is taking it all on a game-by-game basis.

“Now let’s think mainly about the next game,” Castagne said. “It is normal then that the game with PSG is in our head, but we want to close the championship [Serie A] first.

“It will be a different game, but still we have to go without fear. We are there for a reason and we must not be afraid. There is respect for them, but we want to go there to do something and not just to say that we played the PSG.”

The duel between PSG and Atalanta is set for Aug. 12.
