After the second fixture in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Borussia Dortmund, Presnel Kimpembe made it known that he is indeed the replacement for Thiago Silva.
If you ask RMC Sport journalist Daniel Riolo who was on After Foot RMC, there’s no question that the France international should be starting alongside Marquinhos. Furthermore, he suggests that supporters should trust Kimpembe Riolo hopes that the 24-year-old becomes a vice-captain and critical figure in the locker room.
“Kimpembe does not embody the after-Silva he embodies the present while Thiago Silva is there. I’ve been saying this for a year now. Especially on the Champions League matches, and the last against Dortmund, I was already campaigning for the hinge to be made up of Marquinhos and Kimpemb,” Riolo said. “The facts have proven me right. I’ve always thought that in big matches you don’t see what some call a less clear rigor or a form of nonchalance.”
“I have always found him good in big matches. Do not tell me that he failed because a ball bounced off his elbow against Manchester United and that there was this penalty from the planet March! No nonsense with that, he is absolutely not guilty of this trap,” Riolo said. “I find him good, Kimpembe, and I think he must start now! I would like people to trust him, to be vice-captain, to be one of the key players in the locker room, he’s a real Parisian, he’s a kid of the club, and he loves the PSG.”
