On Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain played their first of several friendlies to help them prepare for two domestic cup finals and the resumption of the UEFA Champions League. There’s not much anyone can takeaway tactically in a 9-0 win against a Ligue 2 side Le Havre but there’s plenty of other angles to investigate.
Pundits and journalists can look at that commanding win and analyze PSG’s preparation and better understand how their mentality will begin to develop after a four-month layoff due to the coronavirus.
On After Foot RMC, Frédéric Piquionne noticed PSG’s strong effort from the opening whistle. The French football pundit believes that the team has a hunger to them as they hope to win the club’s first Champions League trophy.
“They have an idea in mind, and we know it very well. Mbappé and Neymar want to win the Champions League. They have trained like crazy, even if the training does not replace the matches, of course. But the guys came back with the knife between their teeth, they’re hungry and they want to prove too,” Piquionne said. “Because we, the media, are there hammering and planning on the Atalanta match. I really think they are already ready in the head. What I saw in the first half against Le Havre, I pretty much think that it will be the team that should start.”
