Tuchel Uncertain About Bernat’s Availability For Coupe de France Final

Juan Bernat is one of a few Paris Saint-Germain players who did not play in the side’s friendly wins this week. According to Le Parisien (via Culture PSG), Bernat is missing in action due to muscle fatigue.

With Bernat recovering and seeking to get back up to being fully fit, he may not be ready to go for PSG’s much-anticipated Coupe de France final against AS Saint-Etienne. In a press conference following the team’s friendly win over Waasland-Beveren, manager Thomas Tuchel spoke (via Le Parisien) about the team remaining cautious with Bernat’s minor injury.

“He is not at ease with his muscles,” Tuchel said. “We decided together not to take any risks.”

Bernat is back in training with the team, but Tuchel is not all so certain that the defender will be ready for the cup final. Tuchel remains hopeful that the Spanish defender can possibly return to action sooner rather than later. Still, it is looking like a major doubt to see Bernat on the pitch for any playing time minutes against Saint-Etienne.

“It will probably be too fair for the final of the Coupe de France,” Tuchel said. “He trained today, he is not injured. He may be able to play against Celtic Glasgow, I remain optimistic. But it will be short against Saint-Etienne.”

The Coupe de France final is set for July 24.
