Report: Cavani Is Seeking a Three-Year Deal From Benfica

Nearly a month since departing from Paris Saint-Germain, Edinson Cavani remains without a club. Plenty of clubs have shown interest in El Matador, but none have pulled the trigger in offering a contract.

Reports would suggest that AS Roma is the favorite to land the 33-year-old. The Italian club needs a striker and is willing to meet the wage demands. However, no agreement has occurred from both parties.

With the arrival of Jorge Jesus at SL Benfica, the Portuguese club is throwing their hat in the Cavani sweepstakes. If Benfica wants to land PSG’s all-time leading goal scorer, they won’t only have to meet his salary requirements, but contract length as well.

According to Subrayado, Cavani was reportedly in Lisbon, visiting the Benfica facilities and the Estádio da Luz. It’s on this visit where news leaked that the Uruguayan international and his camp want a three-year contract from Benfica or perhaps any other club.

It will be interesting to see whether or not any club can commit big money to Cavani while keeping him around until he’s 36-years-old.
