Report: Barcelona Could Offer PSG Up to 4 Players in Exchange For Neymar

I think it’s clear now that FC Barcelona does not have the financial resources to afford Neymar Jr. this summer. Their club president has admitted that a deal would be difficult and even the president of the league has stated that the Catalan club is unlikely to reunite with the Brazilian superstar.

The only entity that hasn’t gotten the memo is the Spanish press who continue to peddle nonsense in order to generate advertising revenue.

In a piece about Neymar wanting to return to Barcelona, Mundo Deportivo’s Jordi Battle writes that several players at the La Liga club would welcome a move to the French capital, including Ousmane Dembélé, Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho, and Ivan Rakitić. It’s thought that Barcelona could package those players in a deal for Neymar if PSG agreed, which I don’t think they would considering this group’s injury history, recent form, and age.

Neymar’s contract at PSG expires in 2022, so the Ligue 1 champions have some time to negotiate a contract extension with the 28-year-old superstar. Next summer is when things are expected to heat up if there’s no extension. PSG will have to find the best deal possible or keep Neymar for one more year and lose him on a free transfer.

With the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, PSG would obviously love to have Neymar still in their ranks but it’s up to the club to keep him happy, and that likely involves a lucrative contract and a squad that Neymar feels he can win the UEFA Champions League with on a consistent basis.
