PSG Set To Face Waasland-Beveren In a Two-Hour Friendly

Paris Saint-Germain will continue its preparation for the two cup finals with a two-hour friendly against Waasland-Beveren on Friday (via RMC Sport).

The unique fixture will feature four separate periods with 30 minutes each. Stoppages will halt play after the periods and allow for both teams to rest before resuming action. Other friendly rules such as unlimited substitutions will still apply for this contest.

This one-time-only format for manager Thomas Tuchel will allow him to provide even more playing time for some of the youth talents and those who are desperate to prove to the coaching staff that they deserve more minutes. Tuchel plans to do so as the team continues to prepare for its first of two cup finals next week.

“Friday, everyone will play 60 minutes,” Tuchel said. “That’s good. The goal is to arrive fresh for Saint-Etienne.”

5,000 spectators will be expected for what will be PSG’s first fixture at the Parc des Princes since its pivotal UEFA Champions League home win against Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16.

For players like Neymar, this will be just another game. But for youngsters such as Arnaud Kalimuendo, it will be a grand opportunity to showcase his talents in front of the home crowd.
