‘It’s a Little Dangerous’ – Neymar Calls Out Waasland-Beveren’s Aggressive Tactics

Like Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Neymar Jr. also spoke with beIN Sports (via ParisFans) after Paris Saint-Germain’s 7-0 win over Waasland-Beveren on Sunday.

The 28-year-old expressed his pleasure to be playing back in front of supporters, albeit a limited amount. Then he discussed the squad’s mentality with one more friendly to go before the two domestic cup finals and UEFA Champions League quarter-final match against Atalanta in August.

“What came out of the match, and how do I feel?” Very happy to come back to play at home, with a little audience,” Neymar said. “We are gradually preparing to arrive at the maximum. Then it will be the final. The rest doesn’t really matter.”

In the 45th minute, Aleksandar Vukotić left Waasland-Beveren playing with ten men after receiving a red card. Furthermore, the Serbia international also committed an own-goal, so overall, a bad day for the 24-year-old.

Back to Neymar, beIN asked about Vukotić’s red card and Waasland-Beveren’s aggressive style despite being friendly. The Brazil international did admit that it did feel a bit dangerous. With PSG trying to get their legs ready for the road ahead, Neymar understands that remaining healthy is a priority.

“An aggressive opponent, a good thing, or is it dangerous? It’s a little dangerous; it can worry,” Neymar said. “We’re here for a friendly match. So that kind of thing doesn’t have to be. We are there to prepare, we must be careful.”

PSG will welcome Celtic FC to the Parc des Princes for their last friendly on Tuesday, July 21. Next Friday, it’s the Coupe de France final against AS Saint-Étienne and then one week later, PSG faces their toughest test in the Coupe de la Ligue final against Olympique Lyonnais.
