Former PSG Forward Discusses His Relationship With Zlatan Ibrahimović

Jérémy Ménez recently sat down for an interview with beIN Sports and the 33-year-old discussed Paris Saint-Germain’s chances in the UEFA Champions League as the tournament is set to resume in August. In a short response, Ménez stated that he believes Les Parisiens can hoist the European trophy in Lisbon, Portugal.

In another statement, the current Reggina 1914 forward took to the microphone once more, talking with Stats Perform (via ParisFans) and reminiscing about his time with the capital club. Ménez mentioned his relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who he says helped him grow not only on the pitch but as a man.

“It’s always nice to hear compliments about it, especially when those compliments come from the mouth of a player like Ibra. I always got on well with him,” Ménez said. “His words motivate you to train well and to do your best. I thank him above all, because when you play alongside him, it makes you grow as a professional, but also as a man.”

Many on the outside can grow tired of the larger than life personality that Ibrahimović exhibits. However, it’s not like that inside the clubhouse. Teammates of the 38-year-old understand it’s a joke. Furthermore, as Ménez mentioned, he helps everyone grow, whether it’s professionally or personally.

“What do you want me to say negative about him? He always won his clubs, wherever he went,” Ménez said. “You have to leave him alone and let him say what he wants. Does he call himself God? It’s a joke, he likes it, and he is like that. ”

Also, Ménez isn’t alone with this feeling. Current PSG midfielder, Marco Verratti, has gone on the record to state how Ibrahimović impacted his career.
