Since arriving from Brazil where he was in self-isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic, Neymar Jr. displayed a lot more team unity on social media with his Paris Saint-Germain teammates.
Whether it’s spending time with the squad for Leandro Paredes’ birthday or celebrating Bastille Day with the Eiffel Tower in the background, Neymar has shown a clear happiness with his teammates and the city. Furthermore, with ongoing contract extension talks with Les Parisiens, this closeness with his teammates and the club could entice him to extend.
However, Eric Di Meco isn’t buying this from the 28-year-old. The former left-back of Olympique de Marseille went on RMC Sport Super Moscato Show (via ParisFans) to say he’s not sold on Neymar’s enthusiasm and a newfound love for Paris.
“Love cannot be declared, it can be shown! Neymar is in negotiations to extend his contract in Paris. This declaration of love at the time of extending. But frankly, I hope that this boy enters the ranks. I hope he will be a true leader,” Di Meco said. “He must show on the ground what he is explaining on social networks. There, it’s all calculated. But beware. Each summer, Neymar has done belly dancing to supporters. He has not shown this love for PSG in the last two seasons. We’ll see this year.”
Take any comments from an analyst with ties to Marseille with a grain of salt. It’s hard to believe there’s no bias in that opinion from Di Meco. Nonetheless, we will see if these posts will indicate that Neymar is comfortable in Paris and wants to continue his stay.
