According to Fabio Capello, Paris Saint-Germain should be wary of its upcoming UEFA Champions League showdown against Atalanta.
The former Milan and Real Madrid manager spoke to Radio Anch’Io (via Canal Supporters) about the upcoming duel between two of the most in-form teams in all of Europe. He praised the identity that Atalanta has formed under manager Gian Piero Gasperini and lauded just how well it has overcome recent circumstances.
“Atalanta is a team made up of elements that know their value, that are put together, and that carry the will of this city,” Capello said. “The confinement and the health crisis have united them even more.”
Club supporters and those within the city of Bergamo must surely feel overjoyed with the recent success of Atalanta. The Serie A side is in the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time in its history.
Overall, Capello recognizes that the high-octane attacking play of PSG can end up being a difference-maker in the tie, but still, he warns the Ligue 1 side that Atalanta will put up a good fight.
“PSG is not an easy opponent with technical attackers who have quality in one-on-one,” Capello said. “It is a team that has a high quality. But Atalanta will put PSG in trouble.”
The two sides are scheduled to meet on Aug. 12 in a single-legged tie. It should be a tactical chess match.
