‘We Have Dreams to Fulfill’ – Icardi’s Wife and Agent Responds to Permanent Move to PSG

On Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain announced that they had signed Mauro Icardi to a permanent deal following his season-long loan from Inter Milan.

The price PSG paid Inter was a reported €50 million, plus a €5 million bonus, which is less than the €70 million option to buy fee in the initial loan.

Icardi’s wife and agent, Wanda Icardi, negotiated the contract with PSG, which will keep the 27-year-old striker in the French capital until June 30, 2024.

According to L’Equipe, Wanda Icardi even used interest from Juventus FC to drive up her husband’s annual gross salary from €10 million to €12 million. On Twitter, she shared her enthusiasm for the transfer being completed and looked forward to the future.

“Happy to fulfill your dreams, we go for everything…we have dreams to fulfill. Thank you PSG TOGETHER we will fulfill them.”

This season, Icardi scored 20 goals in 31 appearances but wasn’t in the squad for the two matches against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 despite being fit enough to play.

Now that Icardi is a permanent PSG player, you have to imagine that the Argentine will feature in all of PSG’s most important matches moving forward.

The deal all but means Edinson Cavani will be departing the club when his contract expires at the end of the season. When he does, Icardi will take his number and switch from #18 to #9.

Cavani is PSG’s all-time leading scorer, so he’ll have some very large shoes to fill once he wears that number.
