Ronaldo Nazário is one of the more recognizable footballers in the world and the 43-year-old recently spoke with AS and named the players he enjoys watching today.
Despite playing for Real Madrid from 2002-2007, the Brazilian didn’t let his allegiance cloud his top five list, which he began by saying that Lionel Messi is the number one player that he likes to watch.
However, when you see the rest of his top five, there’s one interesting absence that might be controversial.
“Messi, of course, he is number one, it will take us 20 or 30 years to see something similar in terms of talent,” Ronaldo said. “I also like Salah, Hazard, Neymar, whom I like to see playing, of course, Mbappé.”
From a Paris Saint-Germain perspective, Ronaldo is showing appreciation for his compatriot in Neymar Jr., but the shocking admittance is that the 43-year-old includes Kylian Mbappé over Juventus FC’s Cristiano Ronaldo who is perhaps best known for his time at Real Madrid.
Mbappé is out of contract with PSG come June 30, 2022, but the club is hoping he will sit down and negotiate an extension. If he does, he’ll be part of a very talented team that football fans around the world will want to tune in to watch. He doesn’t necessarily need to jet off to Real Madrid to be “seen.”
Also, from a football point of view, it’s nice to see one of the legends of the game enjoys watching PSG games with an eye on their two superstars.
