Now that the future of Thiago Silva will no longer be at Paris Saint-Germain, the 35-year-old needs to start weighing his options as to where he’d like to play next.
One club that’s campaigning for the services of O Monstro is Fluminense FC. However, according to Le Parisien, despite the interest from his former club, Silva is hoping to remain in Europe for at least two more seasons.
Silva wants to continue playing at the highest level of football in Europe to remain in the eyes of Brazil National Team manager Tite as he hopes to play next year at the Copa America and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
However, even if the Brazil international wanted to return to Fluminense, a deal may not be possible due to the coronavirus and the financial fallout of suspending the 2019-20 season for several months.
Silva’s current contract expires later this month, so he will have to agree to a temporary extension to compete in the UEFA Champions League in August before he makes a final decision regarding where he’ll play his football next season.
