Marquinhos, Neymar Jr., and Thiago Silva all left France for Brazil at various times during the coronavirus pandemic and one of them is reportedly ready to return.
In a column on Europe 1 (via Le Parisien), journalist Isabela Pagliari explains that Marquinhos, who was the last PSG Brazilian to leave France on May 19, will be the first to return.
“Marquinhos is about to return to France. He had come to Brazil to be with the family of his wife, Carol. He will return to France to quarantine. PSG has nothing formalized but the club is working on a resumption of training on June 22, with medical tests. Marquinhos is a model player. He is a very good player but in addition, he has all these details that make the eyes of the management of PSG shine. He is now the second captain of the team, I saw that Parisian supporters are moving on Twitter to make him the captain. So, Marquinhos is setting an example, he will come home early to quarantine.”
This is a great decision from Marquinhos as he stands to be the next captain of PSG after Thiago Silva departs the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
We don’t know if Marquinhos or the other players abroad will have to quarantine for 14 days upon their arrival in France but it’s possible. By coming back early, Marquinhos can get his quarantine out of the way and if he’s healthy, be ready for training on day one. We should know more about the process for players returning by June 15, which is the date of the partial opening of the French border.
As for Neymar and Silva, Pagliari revealed that there is no intention to return to Paris as of yet but that they will likely return once an official date for training is set and the club calls them back.
