Turkey is a destination for some superstar players at the twilight of their careers. It’s typically for those looking for one last significant payday before having to take a drastic pay cut if they decide to continue playing football.
Players such as Radamel Falcao and Didier Drogba have gone to Turkey and enjoyed some success towards the end of their playing days, which is why it comes as no surprise that a Turkish club is interested in the services of Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva.
According to Fotomaç (via ParisFans), Fenerbahçe S.K. is looking to swoop in and bring the 35-year-old to the Süper Lig. Furthermore, they’re hoping that a former teammate of Silva’s, Alex de Souza, can help in the recruiting process.
It seems like a long-shot considering that a return to either AC Milan or Fluminense FC are the two likeliest options. Nonetheless, it doesn’t hurt to try, and if they can guarantee the Brazil international a more significant role and more pay, then Silva could consider the option.
