Report: Cavani and Silva to End PSG Career With Chance at Champions League Glory

Neither Edinson Cavani nor Thiago Silva has ever won the UEFA Champions League in their career but that could all change this August.

Both players are on contracts that expire on June 30, but according to Gianluca Di Marzio, there is an agreement in place to extend their stay with PSG for a couple of months so that they can participate in the Champions League quarter-finals and hopefully beyond.

The final eight of the Champions League will compete in Lisbon, Portugal, in a single-elimination tournament instead of the traditional two-legged tournament.

Cavani will likely start as a backup striker to Mauro Icardi but Silva could be a starter depending on PSG’s opponent. If Marquinhos moves into the midfield, that could open up a role for Silva at center-back alongside Presnel Kimpembe most likely.

In addition to the Champions League, Cavani and Silva could win two more trophies with Les Parisiens during their farewell tour. The Coupe de France final and Coupe de la Ligue final will be played at the end of July.
