PSG Midfielder Frustrated Over Transfer Speculation

Late last month and then again last week, Idrissa Gueye was mentioned in the rumor mill as a player that Paris Saint-Germain would be willing to potentially part ways with.

There was the initial report that Gueye could be sold, which led to fans of his former team to dream of a triumphant return. Then there was a report that stated two mid-tier Premier League clubs were interested in signing the Senegal international.

The news came as a surprise to many PSG supporters as Gueye just arrived last summer. The 30-year-old midfielder had an inconsistent season in the French capital but that is to be expected from a player getting used to his new surroundings.

As you can imagine, the transfer speculation didn’t sit well with Gueye and according to Le10Sport, Gueye is unhappy about being shopped to help fund the signings of other midfielders and he wants to remain in Paris.

With Thiago Silva’s impending departure from the club at the end of the season, Marquinhos will likely slot back into his natural center-back position. This would give Gueye an opportunity to play more regularly with Marco Verratti and whoever Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, signs during the transfer window.

We saw what Gueye is capable of against Real Madrid in the group stage at the Parc des Princes. If he can make that performance a regular occurrence, PSG will be glad they didn’t sell.
