‘PSG is Not a Club That Sells Its Stars’ – Herrera Comments on Mbappé to Real Madrid and Neymar to Barcelona Rumors

Former footballer Lars Ricken recently said that Borussia Dortmund doesn’t buy superstars, they make them, but at Paris Saint-Germain, the motto is slightly different.

In an interview with AS, Ander Herrera was asked about the many transfer rumors linking Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid and Neymar Jr. to FC Barcelona and he made it clear what the club’s policy is.

“It is true that a lot of information appears in the media and on networks about both…You have to take into account a fundamental aspect, and I have discussed it with Kylian, that PSG is not a club that sells its stars, on the contrary, it buys them. They have enough economic muscle to support both of them.”

AS followed up by asking if the former Manchester United midfielder could see Mbappé at Madrid and Neymar at Barca.

“What I see normal is that they are talked about, as in their time of [Marco] Verratti or Marquinhos. They are the best in the world and I have four more years of contract and I want to enjoy them next to them at PSG.”

Herrera has defended Neymar in the past when it comes to media criticism of the Brazil international and now he’s doing the same for the club by putting PSG in the same class as other big clubs who almost never sell the best players in their prime.

Both Mbappé and Neymar are under contract with PSG until 2022, so there’s time for the Ligue 1 champions to negotiate an extension with both superstars.

However, come next summer, if Mbappé and Neymar haven’t signed extensions, PSG will likely be forced to sell or risk losing both players for free.
