Trust me, I would love nothing more than for Paris Saint-Germain to steal an FC Barcelona transfer target out from under them. It’s just this latest report literally makes no sense.
Over at Mundo Deportivo, Roger Torelló writes that PSG is willing to do anything to sign Juventus FC midfielder Miralem Pjanic. He reports that Barcelona already has a deal with Pjanic but they’ve yet to come to terms with Juventus for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
That apparently has opened the door for PSG to take advantage of the situation and offer Mauro Icardi to the Turin-based club for Juventus.
PSG just signed Icardi to a long-term contract following his season-long loan from Inter Milan. The deal keeps the 27-year-old striker in the French capital until 2024 and PSG paid Inter a transfer fee of €50 million, plus a €5 million bonus.
With Edinson Cavani past his prime and coming up at the end of his contract on June 30, to think that PSG would swap Icardi for the 30-year-old Pjanic is laughable. It doesn’t make sense on any level.
Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, probably paid €20-€30 million less than what Icardi is worth and there’s reportedly a clause that if PSG sells Icardi to an Italian club that they have to pay Inter an additional €15 million.
More details about Mauro #Icardi’s transfer to #PSG: if The Parisians will sell the Argentinian striker to another Italian club, then they must pay #Inter an extra €15m 🇦🇷🔥@goal

Pjanic is a decent player but he’s not worth giving up on one of the most efficient strikers in Europe that PSG just bought for a bargain transfer fee.
To me, this seems like a way for Barcelona state media to try and soften the blow if and when the transfer for Pjanic falls through because they can’t agree to a deal with Juventus.
