Official: Kouassi Will Not Sign Pro Contract With PSG; Milan and Leipzig No Longer Being Considered

In a surprising reversal, Tanguy Kouassi has decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month.

The French defender just turned 18-years-old on June 7, and the club celebrated his birthday on social media. Unfortunately, that, plus a professional contract, the opportunity to play with Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr., UEFA Champions League football, and considerable playing time with the departure of Thiago Silva wasn’t enough to convince Kouassi to stay in the French capital. Kids…

RMC Sport delivered the news on Saturday but the name of the club Kouassi has decided to leave Paris for has not been released. The report did however reveal that the club is not thought to be RB Leipzig or AC Milan, two clubs heavily linked with the player in recent weeks.

Kouassi’s departure comes as a shock as it was reported that the Frenchman preferred to stay in Paris despite his representatives wanting him to go abroad. In the end, he’s just another name in a long list of young players who have left the French capital far too soon.

Prior to the suspension of the Champions League and cancelation of Ligue 1, Kouassi featured in 13 matches for PSG and scored three goals.

With Kouassi and Silva both expected to leave the club, PSG will go with Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe as their starting center-back pairing. Behind them, Thilo Kehrer, Abdou Diallo, and Loïc Mbe Soh are available to manager Thomas Tuchel. Center-back wasn’t a priority heading into the offseason for Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, but it might be now.
