‘I Have Little Doubt That Lorenzo Could Think of Leaving Us’ – Roma Executive Believes PSG Target Will Remain in Italy

After securing Mauro Icardi to a long-term contract, Paris Saint-Germain will likely address their midfield ahead of the 2020-21 season.

AS Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini is one player that has been linked with a move to the Parc des Princes and the 23-year-old does fit the height requirement that Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, is looking for at 6’2″.

Furthermore, Leonardo has a preference for acquiring Serie A talent, so there are multiple factors as to why PSG is reportedly interested in Pellegrini besides him being a very talented footballer.

Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi recently spoke with Sky Italia to discuss the future of the midfielder who has a release clause of €30 million.

“Pellegrini has a clause of termination. But he is very attached to Rome, and even if someone had to pay all the money provided for in the clause if the player decides not to leave, he is free to do so,” Petrachi said. “I have little doubt that Lorenzo could think of leaving us if an offer were to arrive because he saw the credibility of this club and how much Rome has changed it.”

It doesn’t seem that Roma is afraid to lose Pellegrini, who they believe will continue his tenure in the Italian capital even if a club decides to pay his release clause.

Nonetheless, if the Italy international needs some convincing to join PSG, there are plenty of superstar players to help Leonardo with that. The promise of UEFA Champions League football in Paris could be a deciding factor as well.
