The transfer window hasn’t even opened yet and Chelsea FC has already made a couple of fantastic signings.
First, Chelsea signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, and then they stole RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner who had long been rumored to be heading to Liverpool FC.
As if those two signings weren’t impressive enough, there are also rumors that the Blues want to Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz and Leicester City FC’s Ben Chilwell.
Chelsea isn’t immune to the realities of the coronavirus and the financial fallout of the pandemic, so it was assumed that N’Golo Kante could be shopped around to help raise funds for future signings and that Paris Saint-Germain would be interested in the France international.
However, according to The Guardian, manager Frank Lampard still sees a place for Kante in his squad and doesn’t want him to leave any time soon.
“In terms of N’Golo, I’ve seen some talk and reports about him and his future at the club. I’ve said it a lot of times about N’Golo—one of the best midfield players in the world. I would have loved to be able to play with him. He has everything.”
“Coming back to Chelsea and having N’Golo Kante is something I really want to appreciate and work with. Because of injuries, it’s been tough for N’Golo. It’s nice to see him a little bit fresh. N’Golo is so important to us going forward. We need him regularly and hopefully, we’ll have that now.”
I tend to take Lampard at his word but it’s not like he’s going to admit that the club is looking to part ways with the 29-year-old who does have experience in Ligue 1 with Stade Malherbe Caen.
PSG could make Chelsea an offer for Kante but with the player under contract until 2023, prying him from Stamford Bridge could get expensive.
As much as I like Kante and think he would be a good fit, I don’t think this is a deal PSG can pull off…at least this summer anyway.
