Chelsea Receive Transfer Boost After Kurzawa Agrees to Extension With PSG

After signing Mauro Icardi to a permanent contract following his season-long loan, FC Porto’s Alex Telles seemed like the most likely candidate to be the next player signed by Paris Saint-Germain.

With Layvin Kurzawa expected to leave PSG at the end of the season when his contract expired, the club prioritized signing a new left-back to either back-up Juan Bernat or compete with him for the starting job.

All of that speculation is now void because according to RMC Sport, Kurzawa will sign a four-year contract to remain in the French capital.

With Kurzawa and Bernat, PSG has two viable left-back options with Abdou Diallo also capable of playing the position. There’s now no need to sign a player like Telles who is very talented but will cost at least €20 million according to Le Parisien. That money can now be reallocated to help sign a player like Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić.

As for Telles’ future, Porto very much wants to sell as the Brazil international has one year left on his current contract. Just a few weeks ago, Chelsea remained very interested in the defender and would now see a clearer path to gaining his signature with PSG more than likely out of the way.
