Bayern Munich Could Steal Another Young Defender From PSG

In recent weeks, there has been speculation that Paris Saint-Germain is interested in signing Ajax defender Sergiño Dest.

The 19-year-old United States international can play right-back and left-back, which for PSG would be invaluable considering their current situation.

With Layvin Kurzawa and Thomas Meunier expected to leave at the end of the season, Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, has prioritized the full-back positions this offseason.

In Dest, PSG would not only have one of the more promising defenders in world football but an American who could help with marketing in an emerging football market.

Unfortunately, PSG will face competition in obtaining Dest’s signature. FC Barcelona is rumored to be interested as well as FC Bayern Munich.

According to Soccerlink, Dest prefers a move to the German club and has reportedly agreed to join the newly crowned Bundesliga champions.

Bild (via Le10Sport) reports that a deal is still far from being completed, with Bayern preferring a loan with an option-to-buy deal, while Ajax seeks a straight transfer, which will reportedly cost €25 million.

Coming off the news that Tanguy Kouassi has refused a professional contract with PSG and chose to leave for Bayern Munich, signing Dest ahead of the Germans would be payback for the Ligue 1 champions. Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, is said to be annoyed with Bayern so I wouldn’t put it past him to go all out for Dest.
