Barcelona Struggling to Sign Inter Milan Striker and It’s All PSG’s Fault

It’s been widely reported that FC Barcelona would like to sign Inter Milan striker, Lautaro Martínez, but Paris Saint-Germain has made that deal a bit harder to complete.

According to Sport, Inter’s sale of Icardi to PSG for €50 million last month has put them in a place of strength when it comes to negotiations with Barcelona for Martínez.

Had Inter not sold Icardi, they would likely be more willing to negotiate with Barcelona. However, Sport revealed that Inter is looking for a transfer fee of around €85 million while Barca is reportedly only willing to go up to €65 million and include Junior Firpo.

Barcelona hopes that after the 2019-20 season, Martínez will make his desire to leave Inter public to hopefully force a transfer.

The Argentina international is under contract with Inter until 2023, so the Serie A club has no reason to sell until their price is met.

Today, it was reported that Barcelona and Juventus FC agreed to an €80 million transfer fee for Arthur with the Turin-based club needing to now convince him to leave Spain. It will be interesting to see if Barcelona uses those proceeds to sign Martínez or Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.
