Kylian Mbappé tied AS Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder with 18 goals scored in the 2019-20 Ligue 1 season but because he had a better goal/match ratio, the Paris Saint-Germain superstar was handed the golden boot.
It was the second-consecutive year that Mbappé was Ligue 1’s top-scorer and you have to imagine how many more he could have scored had the league finished out the season instead of shutting down early due to the coronavirus crisis.
Of all the goals the 21-year-old Frenchman scored this season against Ligue 1 competition, my favorite has to be his backheel against FC Nantes. His solo goal against Amiens SC was another brilliant display of his superior athletic ability.
