Like everyone else during the coronavirus pandemic of 2020, I’m stuck inside my home self-isolating from the rest of the world so I decided to do a bit of Spring Cleaning and that’s where I found my copy of the FIFA 15 video game.
Lionel Messi is on the cover but I immediately wanted to pop it into my Xbox and check out the Paris Saint-Germain squad. I put my cleaning to the side and sat down for a FIFA session and I soon realized how good this team was.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Edinson Cavani, Maxwell, Marco Verratti, Marquinhos, and Thiago Motta are all there and obviously younger. If PSG didn’t run into FC Barcelona (the eventual champions) in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, you have to wonder if they could have reached the finals. But I digress…
With no PSG matches to look forward to until August and another month until the players return to training, I thought I would play the 2014-15 season with the virtual version on PSG and see if I can lead them to “Champions Cup” glory.
Part 1 of my journey through the virtual 2014-15 campaign began with a friendly against Hellas Verona FC at the Parc des Princes. The visitors surprisingly went up 2-0 over Les Parisiens but I was able to battle bat with two sensational goals to level the score and escape with the draw.
I’m not a very good FIFA player as you’ll see in the video below, which should make things interesting. Follow along as I make transfers, change formations, and do my best to deal with divas within the squad as I march towards the Ligue 1 and Champions Cup title.
