‘Scorers are Difficult to Find’ – Boulleau Explains Why PSG Should Keep Cavani and Icardi

Once the 2019-20 season comes to an end, Paris Saint-Germain will have to finally decide what to do with both Mauro Icardi and Edinson Cavani.

For Laure Boulleau, it’s an easy decision; keep both. The former PSG Féminine player went on the set of Canal Football Club (via ParisFans) to talk about why the two South American strikers should stick around in Paris.

“The transfer window must be pragmatic. It is necessary to keep the framework and compensate for the departures from the lateral ones,” Boulleau said. “I’m for keeping Icardi and Cavani if possible. Scorers are difficult to find. They stayed on Dortmund. The group is united. Icardi brought very good, very healthy competition.”

The 27-year-old Argentine has an option to buy clause baked into his loan from Inter Milan, but when it comes to the price, Les Parisiens are hoping to negotiate a lower fee to keep Icardi. Meanwhile, Cavani is hoping to take a reduction in salary to remain with the capital club.

As Boulleau stated, it’s a healthy competition between both players, and they’re familiar with playing the likes of Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé.

Furthermore, money will be tight due to the coronavirus, so if they can lower Icardi’s fee, then it’s a no-brain decision, especially if the Argentine can find his form from early in the season and remain consistent in the goal-scoring department.
