Now that domestic leagues are beginning to resume in Europe, the next step in the process is for the continent’s most significant competitions to return, including the UEFA Champions League.
On the men’s side, there’s no set date. However, there are discussions over a possible return in August with the Champions League final having to relocate as a result of the coronavirus.
When it comes to women’s tournament, Europe’s governing body is also targeting an August start with play going into September, according to The Telegraph.
Unlike the men, all domestic leagues across the continent were canceled for women’s football. As a result, there’s somewhat of an even playing field when the competition resumes late in the summer.
After defeating Breidablik UBK 7-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16, Paris Saint-Germain Féminine drew Arsenal FC in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Les Parisiennes are in the same situation as their male counterparts as both find themselves two more rounds away from a final appearance.
