Report: Rabiot Refuses to Return to Juventus (PSG Fans Not Surprised)

It took a bit longer than Paris Saint-Germain supporters expected the real Adrien Rabiot has finally turned up at Juventus FC…or, hasn’t turned up.

With Serie A clubs now allowed to move forward with training following a lengthy stoppage due to the coronavirus, many Juventus players who left to self-isolate in their home countries are beginning to return to Turin, except Rabiot.

According to the Sport (via Daily Mail), Rabiot remains in the French Riviera and has not communicated with Juventus executives when he plans to return.

The assumption being that Rabiot is angling for a transfer and is using his absence as a way to make his point clear.

After leaving PSG last summer for Juventus on a free transfer, Rabiot has found life outside of Ligue 1 difficult. The Frenchman has only started 11 Serie A matches and has recorded zero goals and zero assists.

Rabiot is under contract with Juventus until 2023 and earns €7 million in wages per season. Considering his salary expectations and €25.5 value (per Transfermarkt), a move to the Premier League makes the most sense. Interested parties include Manchester United and Everton FC.

This isn’t the first time Rabiot has acted like a petulant child. There was that time he refused to be a reserve on the France national team that went on to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup. At PSG, he was a constant thorn in the side of the capital club and even missed a cup final because he showed up late to a team meeting. Professionalism and Rabiot are just two things that don’t go together.

Good luck to whichever team takes on Rabiot next. I’m sure this won’t be the last time we see his name in headlines for something he did off the pitch.
