Report: Chelsea’s Bakayoko Wants to Play For PSG

Tiemoué Bakayoko has bounced around Europe the past couple of seasons but he remains tied to Chelsea FC until 2022. In a perfect world, the 25-year-old would like to return to the place where he was born, Paris, and play for Paris Saint-Germain according to Le Parisien.

Right now, Bakayoko is on loan at AS Monaco but with the Ligue 1 season now over, he will return to London as the Principality club is unlikely to trigger the €42 million option to buy clause.

With N’Golo Kante and Jorginho preferred under Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, Bakayoko and his agent are once again looking at their options for next season.

Bakayoko makes a lot of sense for PSG. At 6’1″, he fits the “tall midfielder” priority that Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, is looking for and he was teammates with Kylian Mbappé at Monaco in 2017 when they shockingly won Ligue 1 ahead of PSG.

While the deal seems almost too perfect, the French publication pours cold water on Bakayoko’s dream of playing in Paris by stating that “there is currently no concrete contact or real approaches.”

That’s not to say a deal can’t get done. It’s possible Leonardo is looking at better players like Sergej Milinković-Savić at Lazio. If players of that caliber are unattainable, Bakayoko would be an ideal backup plan.
