Report: Chelsea Midfielder Too Expensive For PSG; West Ham and Milan Interested

Chelsea FC’s Tiémoué Bakayoko checks a lot of boxes for Paris Saint-Germain as the club looks to add a tall midfielder to the squad this summer.

The Frenchman is 6’2″, has UEFA Champions League experience, and his friends with Kylian Mbappé from their time together at AS Monaco in 2017 when they guided the Principality club to a Ligue 1 title over PSG.

Unfortunately for the current Ligue 1 champions, Chelsea’s asking price is too high for a player that has spent the past two seasons on loan.

According to Le10Sport, Chelsea expects €35 million for Bakayoko, which is too high for PSG to pay considering the financial impact of the coronavirus and the €60 million they’ll likely have to pay to retain Mauro Icardi.

The report reveals that Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, has turned his attention to AC Milan’s Ismaël Bennacer and AS Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini.

As far as Bakayoko goes, Le10Sport indicates that he could return to AC Milan where he was on loan for the 2018-19 season. West Ham United FC are also thought to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

The 25-year-old Frenchman is under contract with Chelsea until 2022 and it’s expected that Monaco—where Bakayoko is on loan currently—will pass on the €42.5 million option to buy.
