Yesterday, ESPN reported that Arsenal FC expressed interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Adil Aouchiche, who has yet to sign a professional contract with the Ligue 1 champions and will be free to leave the French capital after June 30.
Today, it appears as though Aouchiche is close to signing for another club that has been linked with the 17-year-old midfielder.
According to Goal, Aouchiche visited the AS Saint-Étienne facilities with two representatives and underwent the first part of his medical evaluation.
Negotiations are still ongoing, so there’s a chance there could be a reversal, and Aouchiche returns to Paris, but it seems unlikely at this point if he’s already meeting with ASSE’s medical staff.
Aouchiche is one of the PSG’s most promising youth players. He made his debut last August against FC Metz and scored in the 6-0 win over ESA Linas-Montlhéry in the Coupe de France.
The Frenchman made three appearances with the first team this season but it seems that wasn’t enough and he wants to expedite his development at a club where he will receive more opportunities to play.
This summer, PSG could lose not only Aouchiche but Tanguy Kouassi, who is also one of the bright young talents at the club but who has yet to sign a professional contract.
Fans shouldn’t blame Leonardo, though. According to his statements earlier in the season, the club did everything it could to keep Aouchiche and Kouassi but the players have to want to be in the French capital. Both played in matches and were offered contracts. If they want to move on, there’s nothing the club can do.
