We don’t yet know when the summer transfer window will open but when it does, expect Paris Saint-Germain to address their midfield woes.
Marco Verratti is one of the first names on the team sheet and Marquinhos often filled in as a defensive midfielder. However, with Idrissa Gueye’s inconsistent play, Ander Herrera’s injuries, and Leandro Paredes more interested in starting fights than setting up his teammates, the club could use a fresh face to add to their squad.
One player who has been rumored with a move to FC Barcelona and Real Madrid is Juventus FC midfielder Miralem Pjanic. According to Le Parisien, PSG entered the race for Pjanic last week, and executives made contact with the 30-year-old’s representatives via videoconference. The report reveals that Juventus would expect upward of €50 million to part ways with Pjanic whose contract expires in 2023.
Pjanic is familiar with Ligue 1 from his time with Olympique Lyonnais and FC Metz and the French publication indicates that he has a love for PSG, so a transfer does make sense on that level. The Bosnia-Herzegovina international doesn’t necessarily check the “tall” box that Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, is looking for but his quality can’t be denied.
The report from Le Parisien has Barca in the lead to sign Pjanic with the Catalan Club and Juventus reportedly working on a swap deal. If it’s true that PSG covets Pjanic, they may have to get creative themselves and offer the Bianconeri a more enticing deal.
