While Sport and other Spanish publications spin their wheels and try to come up with different ways to link Neymar Jr. with a return to FC Barcelona, one Paris Saint-Germain teammate poured cold water on those rumors with his recent comments.
“Mbappé and Neymar are still at PSG and even more so with the situation that we are currently in,” Ander Herrera said to Cope (via Goal) in a recent interview.
The former Manchester United midfielder obviously referencing the coronavirus situation with his comment that forced Ligue 1 to cancel the season early and is having a financial impact on football clubs around Europe.
“I had dinner with Neymar before the quarantine and he is very involved with the project,” Herrera continued. “He told me that he has never been so happy in Paris.”
“PSG’s project is such that both feel fulfilled in Paris.”
These comments from Herrera echo what Leandro Paredes recently said to Fox Argentina (via Goal).
“We talk a lot, [Neymar] calls me all the time. I’m calm, he’ll stay with us.”
So, who do you want to believe? Journalists who are tasked with generating pageviews or Neymar’s actual teammates who interact with him on a daily basis?
On an unrelated note, Herrera also confirmed that PSG players felt disrespected by Borussia Dortmund’s trash talk after they won the first leg of the Round of 16 tie in the UEFA Champions League.
“After the first leg, they celebrated it very publicly and put a couple of unfortunate tweets in their official account, which hurt our pride saying that they did not buy superstars but they created them.”
“It’s not good to make Neymar and Mbappé angry.”
Good job, Dortmund admin. I hope the “likes” and re-tweets were worth it.
