At nearly every position, RB Leipzig has a player that is coveted by one of the larger European clubs and Lukas Klostermann is one of them.
The 23-year-old defender has had a meteoric rise at the East German club and has helped lead Leipzig past Tottenham Hotspur and into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
During a recent interview with Goal and SPOX, Leipzig’s former manager, Alexander Zorniger, discussed the recruitment of Klostermann from VfL Bochum in 2014, his untapped potential, and his world-class speed, which he believes could stop Paris Saint-Germain’s 21-year-old superstar.
“[Klostermann’s] development is very, very extraordinary. Thanks to his speed, he can also take out a Kylian Mbappé.”
We may get a chance to test Zorniger’s theory out. After dismissing Borussia Dortmund last March, PSG reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League as well and it’s possible the two sides could be drawn against each other.
I may be biased but I don’t think Klostermann has a chance to keep up with a fully-fit Mbappé. Not only is the Frenchman tied for the highest-rated speed demon in FIFA 20, but he’s also the fastest footballer on the planet having sprinted 22.37 MPH.
