After arriving from Chelsea FC in 2019, Marcin Bulka has the potential to become the goalkeeper of the future for Paris Saint-Germain. However, with his contract set to expire next season, the 20-year-old’s camp is looking for some guarantees before signing an extension.
In a recent Instagram Live (via ParisTeam), Bulka’s agent, Yvan Le Mée, spoke with Telefoot journalist Julien Maynard surrounding his client and his future with Les Parisiens.
One of the first topics both get into is the situation that Bulka came into and the current one they find themselves in with the Poland international being behind Keylor Navas and Sergio Rico in the pecking order.
“When we signed Bulka at PSG, there was Buffon and Areola,” Le Mée said. “Finally, the two left, and we found ourselves in another configuration.”
With Bulka’s contract set to expire after next season, Le Mée is still waiting for his client to receive playing time after deciding to leave London for Paris with only one appearance this season for the Ligue 1 champions. Furthermore, both are monitoring the situation to see what PSG does with Alphonse Areola who is under contract until 2023 and currently on loan at Real Madrid.
“We are waiting to know for him the situation for next season. He is a talented boy. He is almost two meters tall, and he has incredible goalkeeper qualities,” Le Mée said. “He made the decision to leave Chelsea to get more playing time. We are waiting for that.”
Despite being 33-years-old, Keylor Navas is still a number one goalkeeper; however, in a couple of seasons, the capital club will want to transition to a younger keeper.
Les Parisiens need to see what they have in Bulka, but at 20-years-old, he’s too young to be handed the reigns, and a backup role doesn’t further his development.
If PSG can secure an extension and then loan Bulka out, it’s a solution that could satisfy both parties.
