Former FC Bayern Munich striker Giovane Elber shared some Neymar Jr. hot takes that are sure to fire up the Paris Saint-Germain fan base.
Speaking to Carrusel Deportivo (via Mundo Deportivo), Elber was asked if FC Barcelona should bring Neymar back to La Liga and he responded with a resounding, “absolutely not.” Elber elaborated by explaining that “Neymar was very bad with Barca” and continued by questioning why the 28-year-old would ever leave the Catalan club for PSG.
“He wanted to leave Barca, but if he wanted to be the best in the world, he couldn’t go to PSG, how do you want to be the best in the world playing at Paris Saint-Germain?”
Elber saved the biggest burn by doubting PSG’s ability to win the UEFA Champions League. According to him, to be a number one player “you must be in a team that aspires to win the Champions League, like Madrid or Barca, not in Paris, for the love of God.”
Someone should tell Elber that Barcelona hasn’t won a Champions League since Neymar left and they’ve suffered arguably just as many humiliating exits as PSG. Also, before the coronavirus hit, PSG extinguished Borussia Dortmund to reach the quarter-finals and you could argue that right now, PSG has just as talented of a squad as Barcelona.
I would also argue that winning one Champions League title at PSG would do more to cement Neymar’s legacy that winning another for Barcelona. In this interview, Elber comes across as someone with blind hatred towards PSG and Ligue 1. Are we sure he’s not English?
