For PSG, the Price is Right For Arsenal Striker

Signing a striker wasn’t thought to be a priority for Paris Saint-Germain this summer but with Edinson Cavani expected to depart the club at the end of the season and Mauro Icardi sky-high purchase option (€70 million), the Ligue 1 champions are now forced to keep their options open.

According to Le10Sport, Arsenal FC’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is thought to be PSG’s “Plan B” in case they can’t negotiate a lower fee for Icardi.

The 30-year-old striker scored 20 goals in 32 appearances for the Gunners but with his contract expiring in 13 months and his refusal to sign an extension, Arsenal could be convinced to sell now instead of losing him on a free transfer. The asking price is expected to be between €40 million to €50 million, which is the amount Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, is willing to spend on Icardi.

This isn’t the first time PSG has been linked with Aubameyang. After all, he’s familiar with Ligue 1 from his time with AS Saint-Étienne before he left for Borussia Dortmund where met teamed up with current PSG manager Thomas Tuchel. The German manager has previously stated that Aubameyang will always remain in his heart and the striker has endorsed Tuchel in the past.

So, the price is right for Aubameyang. He’s familiar with Ligue 1 and would have Champions League football at PSG. He also enjoys playing for the manager and would complete an attacking trio that includes Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr. To be honest, I’m not sure why this deal isn’t done already.
