Since making his debut during the 2015-16 season as a teenager for AS Monaco, Kylian Mbappé has become a proficient goal-scorer in Ligue 1. The 21-year-old relies on speed to get by defenders, which has resulted in 117 goals so far in his young career in the French top flight.
After moving to Paris Saint-Germain from Monaco in 2017, the France international’s goal scoring went to another level as he’s scored 90 goals in 120 appearances.
Whether it’s scoring goals for his club or the national team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Mbappé is establishing himself as one of the game’s better goal scorers.
However, it’s one thing for the media and pundits to give the title of an elite goal scorer; it’s another when a peer puts a player in their top five list for scoring goals. It just means more.
Recently, FC Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski spoke to RMC Sport (via ParisFans) to give his top five goal scorers, and on that list was Mbappé.
“If we are talking about new, I would say Karim Benzema, Timo Werner, Luis Suarez, Sergio Agüero, and Kylian Mbappé,” Lewandowski said.
Lewandowski's favorite number 9s. (I'm assuming they asked him for only current players)
– Karim Benzema
– Timo Werner
– Luis Suarez
– Sergio Aguero
– Kylian Mbappe

It’s high praise for a player Mbappé, who has yet to hit the prime years of his career.
