According to Mundo Deportivo, Atlético Madrid plans to return for PSG’s all-time leading scorer this summer after failing to sign him last January and they’re prepared to offer Cavani a two-year deal worth €12 million gross each season.
In addition to Atléti, Manchester United and Newcastle United are rumored to be interested in signing the Uruguay international.
Currently, Cavani is the fourth-highest paid player on PSG’s squad with a gross monthly wage of €1.345 million. That comes out to be a little more than €16 million annually.
Cavani’s contract with PSG expires at the end of the season and there have been rumblings that the club could extend his deal for another season or two especially if Mauro Icardi decides he doesn’t want to stay in the French capital for another season.
If Cavani stays at PSG for another season or longer, it will more than likely be for a reduced salary but how much lower may determine whether El Matador leaves for Spain or gives it another go at the Parc des Princes.
