Jesé’s stint in Portugal is coming to an end, as Sporting CP will terminate the loan and not trigger the €7 million option to buy clause according to Diario AS (via Culture PSG).
Despite fighting the urge to laugh or make a banter joke, the reason for the termination of the Spaniard’s loan doesn’t have anything to do with something that happened on the pitch.
With the coronavirus impacting football clubs financially around the world, Sporting, like many clubs, will be fiscally conservative with their transfer budgets for the foreseeable future. As a result, the Leões don’t believe it’s a wise business decision to spend money on a player like Jesé.
The 27-year-old has no future in Paris, which is why he’s been on loan over the last three seasons. Despite having some stints with recognizable clubs like Real Betis and Sporting, Jesé hasn’t found a home. With one more year left in his contract, PSG will seek another club to either take on the Spaniard via a loan or a permanent transfer.
Once the summer of 2021 comes around, Les Parisians will finally say goodbye to one of the worst transfer signings this decade.
