Report: PSG Shows Interest in Roma Midfielder in Quest to Find a Tall Midfielder

When Leonardo, Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, recently discussed areas of the squad that he would like to strengthen over the summer, he mentioned three priorities, including a tall midfielder.

As a result, the capital club has reportedly expressed an interest in Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić, who is 6’3″ and meets the criteria of what Leonardo wants to add to the midfield this summer in terms of quality.

Nonetheless, the steep asking price for the Serbia international could cause PSG to look elsewhere, which is why they have their target set on another Serie A midfielder.

Sky Sports Italy (via Culture PSG) is reporting that Les Parisiens are monitoring Lorenzo Pellegrini of AS Roma. The 23-year-old stands at 6’2″, so his height meets Leonardo’s requirement. When it comes cost, he will be cheaper than Milinković-Savić. According to Transfermarkt, the Italy international has a value of €30 million.

Pellegrini mostly plays as an attacking midfielder for Roma, with occasional starts in the box-to-box role. It will be interesting to see how he will transition to the central midfield role with limited appearances if PSG decides that Pellegrini is their is the midfielder they want and if he wants to leave Rome for the French capital.
