Over the weekend, news broke that FC Porto’s Alex Telles is close to agreeing on a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Now, a second left-back is linked with a move to the French capital.
According to Eindhovens Dagblad (via Football-Oranje.com), PSG executives are following Crystal Palace FC defender Patrick van Aanholt.
It was thought that PSV Eindhoven was in the lead to sign van Aanholt (they tried to sign him last January) but the coronavirus pandemic will likely shrink their transfer budget. According to Transfermarkt, van Aanholt has a market value of €9.5 million.
Het is nog niet zeker dat Patrick van Aanholt volgend seizoen – wanneer dat ook moge beginnen – PSV versterkt. Hij staat ook op de radar van PSG, zo klinkt het. Zie: https://t.co/q95pVbsOiD

Telles is obviously the priority as he is a much better player than van Aanholt. However, with Chelsea FC and FC Barcelona going after Telles as well, PSG may miss out on their preferred left-back transfer.
This season, van Aanholt has made 22 appearances for Crystal Palace and managed to score three goals from his defensive position. According to WhoScored.com, the 29-year-old has an 81.2 pass success percentage. With his contract set to expire in 2021, Palace could be looking to move van Aanholt on instead of losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Whether it’s Telles or van Aanholt, PSG will need to sign a full-back who can compete with Juan Bernat. With Layvin Kurzawa expected to leave at the end of the season, the left-back position needs reinforcements with only Mitchel Bakker backing up the Spain international.
