Report: Chelsea Sets €42M Price Tag For PSG Transfer Target

Paris Saint-Germain’s search for a tall midfielder has reportedly led them to Tiémoué Bakayoko. Currently on loan at AS Monaco from Chelsea FC, the 25-year-old is trying to rediscover the form that he had in his first stint with Les Monégasques in 2017.

Le10sport cited multiple sources that the price is between €30 million and €42 million. On Tuesday, RMC Sport journalist Loïc Tanzi tweeted out that the London club will be seeking €42 million for the France international.

Bakayoko fills two needs for Les Parisians. One is his 6’2″ stature, which PSG sporting director, Leonardo, is looking for in a midfielder. With Leandro Paredes being the tallest player at 5’11”, the Brazilian wants to add some size to the capital club’s midfield.

The next box that Bakayoko checks off is that he plays the majority of the time as a defensive midfielder. With a revolving door of players since the departure of Thiago Motta in 2018, Bakayoko could fill that void and allow Marquinhos to return to his natural center-back position.

With Tanzi reporting that the player is interested in the project, it remains to be seen if PSG will pull the trigger and pay the €42 million that Chelsea are looking for to part ways with Bakayoko.
