Report: Barcelona Gives Up On Signing Neymar This Summer

This summer should be relatively drama-free as reports out of Spain reveal that FC Barcelona will not try to sign Neymar Jr.

According to Catalunya Radio (via Culture PSG), Barcelona will not return for their former superstar due to financial constraints caused by the coronavirus. Instead, they will target cheaper options and work on a contract extension for Lionel Messi.

It’s been reported that PSG would command €150 million for Neymar and the Brazil international doesn’t play for free, so Barcelona would have to pay his lofty wages as well.

Spending that much money on a single player isn’t going to happen this summer but that won’t stop the constant speculation from the Spanish press nor will it silence Neymar’s former teammates from talking about how much they would like to see him return.

Unless Barcelona calls up Nike to help them pull off the deal, as they did with Frenkie de Jong, Neymar will remain in Paris for at least one more season.
