PSG Joins Juventus and Chelsea in Pursuit of Real Madrid Right-Back

Heading into the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain will need to reinforce the right-back position with the impending departure of Thomas Meunier.

Whether they want to look for a bargain or spend a significant amount of money, PSG will need to bring in a player to compete with Thilo Kehrer and Colin Dagba.

As a result, Calciomercato.com reports that the Parisian club might have an interest in Real Madrid right-back Achraf Hakimi, who’s currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, recently had an opportunity to observe Hakimi up close as his team played two matches against Dortmund in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Having spent the last two seasons with the German club, the 21-year-old doesn’t know where his future lies, but there’s a fair amount of clubs looking to purchase him from Los Blancos. Along with PSG, Chelsea FC and Juventus FC are in the race for the Morocco international.

When it comes to cost, Transfermarkt sets his value at €60 million, which is a steep price to pay and may not leave cash for PSG to fill other holes in the squad.

With more pressing needs at center-back and in the midfield, perhaps right-back is a position in which PSG will look for a bargain deal.

The capital club is reportedly showing interest in Lazio’s Adam Marušić, who is relatively cheap and will allow for PSG to spend big on names Kalidou Koulibaly, Sergej Milinković-Savić, and possibly a striker.

However, with financial fair play restrictions potentially being suspended due to the coronavirus, maybe this summer is the time for PSG to splash the cash and sign Hakimi and several other stars.
