PSG Could Snag Arsenal Star For a Discounted Price

Depending on what happens with Mauro Icardi, Paris Saint-Germain could be in the market for a starting striker to play alongside Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr.

One name that has been floated in the past is Arsenal FC’s Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang. The 30-year-old striker is entering the last year of his contract and the frugal Gunners would like to sell him this summer instead of losing him on a free transfer.

According to the Express, Arsenal has lowered its asking price for Aubameyang by £15 million (€17 million). The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sempre Inter) revealed that Aubameyang is expected to fetch €35 million.

In North London this season, Aubameyang has netted 20 goals in 32 appearances and with Arsenal set to miss out on European football next season, PSG could be an attractive option especially if his former manager at Borussia Dortmund, Thomas Tuchel, remains at the capital club.

Aubameyang’s age (31 at the start of next season) is a concern. After all, many PSG supporters aren’t that torn up about 33-year-old Edinson Cavani not being offered a contract extension. However, €35 million is a reasonable fee to pay for a striker who can serve as a suitable stopgap for the 2020-21 season until a younger, more prolific striker can be identified and signed.

PSG aren’t the only ones interested in Aubameyang, though. The report from the Express revealed that Manchester United and FC Barcelona are also linked to the striker.
